There were protests supporting Palestine at universities in the US, but unfortunately, some people got hurt and arrested by the police.

Most of the people protesting want to stop giving money to companies that help Israel and the fighting in Gaza.

On Wednesday, people at UCLA were told to leave or they would get in trouble. Some of them stayed and kept chanting in support of Palestine.

UCLA said that on Thursday and Friday, most things on campus will be closed and all classes will be taught online instead.

The governor of California said the police took too long to help when a fight happened at UCLA between a group who supports Israel and a group who supports Palestine. The Israel supporters attacked the Palestine supporters before the police came.

The person who speaks for Governor Gavin Newsom said it was not okay that the police didn’t help right away and didn’t do enough to stop something bad from happening.

The police took away people who were supporting Palestine from Columbia University.

Officials and school leaders say security guards quickly went to the area where people were protesting for Palestine after fighting started on Tuesday night. Some people who saw it happen say the guards took a while to get there, and there was a short time when nobody was there to help.

Trump said that protests on college campuses were similar to the riots that happened on January 6th, while Biden is trying to negotiate a cease-fire in Gaza to avoid political backlash.

The police officers stayed on the edge of the grass and didn’t move even when we asked them for help, according to UC Divest at LA, a group at the camp.

People who were upset about something started to go home two hours after the bad thing happened, and the police took charge on Wednesday.

Governor Newsom said that it’s not okay to be violent or break the law when you’re trying to speak your mind.

He said the people who did something wrong should be punished, like by getting in trouble with the law or getting kicked out of school. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, there were only a few UCLA police officers there and they left because there were too many people in the crowd.

The police asked for help from other places like the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles, and it took three hours to fix the problem.

The students at Columbia University who were protesting have been told to stop their protest for now.

The people wearing masks hit the campers with sticks and bats, sprayed them with stinky spray, and ripped down their signs.

People in charge of colleges are feeling more and more pressure to stop protests supporting Palestine as these protests are happening in more and more places across the country.

A group of people who support Palestinians took over Columbia University. The Mayor of New York City said that some of the people causing trouble were not students from the school.
