Most protesters want people to stop investing in companies that help Israel and the fighting in Gaza.
Today at UCLA, some people were told to leave or they would get in trouble. They didn’t listen and kept chanting about supporting Palestine.
UCLA said that on Thursday and Friday, there will be limited activities on campus and all classes will have to be taught online.
The leader of California was upset that the police took too long to help when a fight happened at UCLA. One group of people who support Israel hurt some students who support Palestine, but the police didn’t come right away.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s helper said that it was not okay for the police to come late and not do much to help.
The police removed people who were supporting Palestine from Columbia University.
State officials and university leaders say security guards quickly went to the pro-Palestinian camp after fights started on Tuesday night. Some people who saw it happen say the guards took a little while to show up, and there was a short time when nobody was there to help.
Trump said that protests on college campuses are similar to the riots that happened on January 6th, while Biden is trying to negotiate a truce in Gaza to avoid criticism.
The police just stood on the grass and didn’t move when we asked for their help, the UC Divest at LA group said.
People who were upset started to go home two hours after the bad thing happened, and the police took charge on Wednesday (May 1).

People wearing masks and carrying sticks and bats hurt the campers by hitting them, spraying them with a stinging spray, and taking away their signs and boards.
College leaders are feeling more and more pressure to stop protests supporting Palestine because these protests are happening in more and more places across the country.
A group of people who support Palestinians took over Columbia University’s campus. The mayor said that some of the people who were arrested were not from the school.
